The United States Bridge Championships was held in May ’23, leaving a lasting impression on bridge enthusiasts nationwide. The USBC has been using the LoveBridge system for three years now, but this year marked a significant change as Chromebooks were in use, replacing tablets for the first time in the open, mixed, senior and women’s categories.
The reason for this change was primarily driven by the USA’s focus on ensuring everyone’s safety amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. To minimize human contact, they decided to make adjustments. If you take a look at the pictures, you’ll notice that there are only two people in each room, the screenmates. This new setup required written explanations and chat functions, therefore using Chromebooks with keyboards and larger screens instead of tablets was preferred. Also, this way, with players in separate rooms rather than a crowded tournament hall, there’s no need to worry about hands being seen from other tables anymore.
LoveBridge, with its innovative platform, elevated the level of competition and allowed the fans to follow the broadcast on every table during the month.
